Back to Meet Learing to Listen's Horses and Dogs Home
This week a lovely little memory popped up on my Facebook feed. It was a photo of Boo and Topper who, for those of you who don’t know them, are the two smallest members of our equine herd in the Southern Centre.
This particular photograph dates back 5 years, which was when we first collected the ponies from their previous owner. It suddenly reminded me that Topper who is a beautiful little grey Welsh pony must now be 33 years old! I think I have been saying he is 30 for the last 3 years!
Topper is an amazing little character; he is still as feisty as I’m sure he was as a young pony! Now after many years having a successful career as a show pony he is a fully-fledged therapist! What a wonderful way to see out his mature years.
He certainly has bought some rich learning to many clients who have passed through the Southern Centre. Woe-betide anyone who might underestimate his wisdom and the value of the information he brings to our equine facilitated coaching sessions. This little man really packs a punch and has helped so many of our clients, adults and children alike, have some incredible break-through moments in their learning journeys with us.
I also have to of course acknowledge what a safe and wonderfully gentle soul he is. We trust him implicitly to carry the smallest of children out for a ride.
I can’t imagine our herd without him so we all pray that he has many more twilight years to enjoy with us in this wonderful job he does.
