Its been three years since I completed level 5 at Learning to Listen, the year of training was by far one of the most significant life altering periods of my life so far.
I had worked with people for over 20 years since leaving school and had already done several qualifications and training courses.
The training at Learning to Listen was like none I’d done before and I can’t say it was a comfortable learning style or process but I can say it was by far the most beneficial. It was challenging but through the challenges I discovered more than I thought possible about myself, how I interacted with others and also how to be do the work that I do now.
My life is almost unrecognisable from where I was before the training to where it is now. I not only had a career change through the journey I went on, I changed the direction of my whole life.
It sounds cliché but its true; doing the course caused me to re evaluate everything about myself, the choices I’d made, the future I wanted and who I wanted to be.
I learned through the coaching teaching and practice plus through the work with the horses a great balance of developing skills and also personal development with reflection that helped me re focus every area of my personal and professional life.
The course was a mix of training, teaching, experiences and practical exercises, as a group we had fun and laugher, tears and trauma but over I believe we all we had a unique and life changing experience that I don’t think any of will forget.
I came to Learning to Listen fairly confident of who I was and what I wanted out of life, I was taken beyond where I thought I could go and through this realised I’d limited so much of me and what I believed life could offer. Within weeks of finishing the course, I left the city I lived in, I left my job and I began a new chapter and I haven’t looked back. I now have four wonderful horses and I get to work with people who want to give up on life. I see lives being transformed as families find the help and support they need.
Learning to Listen helped change my life and now I get to help others change theirs.
Since 2008 Sarah has provided me with a range of coaching and OD support on a number of occasions. This has been in the form of training for my senior staff, team development days and currently as a participant on the ILM 7 Coaching course.
The support and development Sarah offers is of the highest quality. Her approach to coaching development gave my senior staff a significant and effective tool to support them whilst working in a complex HR environment. It and contributed significantly to a positive change in their performance.
My participation on Sarah’s ILM 7 coaching programme has allowed me to refine and improve my offering as a Management Consultant in a more holistic and developmental manner allowing me to offer more fundamental and integrated support to my clients.
